Junior IT Technician for AV Installations – Freelance
A work opportunity exists for a talented and motivated Junior IT Technician to join our dynamic AV Installation team on a freelance and project basis. As an audio-visual installation company, we specialize in designing and implementing professional AV solutions for our clients. We are looking for a freelancer who has a good IT skillset with an interest in AV, and is eager to learn and grow in the field.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the project leader to assist in assessing client requirements.
- Assisting with equipment setup, basic configuration, and troubleshooting, during on-site installation.
- Assist in integrating AV systems with new and existing IT infrastructure, with and without the guidance of senior technicians.
- Assist with cabling and cable testing
- Liaise with client-side IT staff before and during the installation phase.
- Conduct basic testing and follow quality assurance procedures to ensure the functionality of any IT related aspects of installed AV systems.
- Assist in providing end-user training on the operation and maintenance of any IT related aspects of installed AV systems.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to the IT field, as relevant to AV installations.
Requirements:
- Familiarity with basic IT concepts, such as network connectivity, storage, firmware updating, software, and troubleshooting.
- Some experience or exposure to professional audio-visual installation and integration is preferred, but not required.
- A basic understanding of audio-visual technologies, including displays, projectors, audio systems, cameras, and control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and installation plans with guidance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Awareness of basic cyber security procedures and principles.
- Willingness to take equal responsibility when things go right and when they go wrong.
- Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to focus on the task at hand to meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Any relevant certifications or training in IT, Audio Visual or related fields would be a plus.
- Familiarity with the following is beneficial:
- Common Video Conferencing & Unified Communication platforms
- Streaming protocols
- Network Configuration (subnetting, QoS, etc)
- IT Infrastructure Integration (e.g. AD, SSO, etc)
- Wireless technologies
- AV Over IP
- CATx & Fibre
- Control Systems & Protocols
- Content Management Systems
- Virtualisation
