Established in 2021, Oceana Maritime Academy set out to become a cornerstone in maritime education – offering a range of programmes from foundational seafaring training to advanced management courses in collaboration with a leading business school. The academy’s vision is ambitious yet focused: to develop skills and expertise not only within its own staff but across the broader fishing industry, while uplifting the communities in which it operates.
Transforming an existing building into a high-functioning maritime academy required more than just structural renovation—it demanded a robust, future-ready audiovisual ecosystem that could support dynamic learning, remote engagement, and seamless interconnectivity.
Integrated AV for a Modern Learning Environment
The AV infrastructure was designed to meet the demands of real-time collaboration, content distribution, and broadcast-quality training. The auditorium, a central hub of activity, was equipped for live instruction that can be both viewed and heard in other classrooms throughout the academy. Thanks to the bi-directional integration with platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom, these sessions support real-time interaction between on-site and remote participants.
All classrooms are networked together, allowing for combined teaching sessions, shared resources, and smooth communication. Lectures can be livestreamed or recorded, extending the reach of the academy’s offerings to students beyond the campus. Importantly, the entire system is built on a network/IP backbone, enabling scalable audio transport, control, and monitoring with minimal cabling and maximum flexibility.
Automated Control and Unified Operation
Central to the usability of the system is a fully integrated control environment powered by Neets control systems. This ensures that instructors can easily operate lighting, projection, microphones, and room modes without technical assistance. Every space is optimized for ease of use while maintaining high-performance standards expected in professional training institutions.
