For the past 14 years, the South African Guild of Editors (SAGE) has published an annual rate card of recommended remuneration for editors.

The list includes Daily & Weekly rates in South Africa for: Story editors (offline), Finishing editors (online), 1st Assistant editors, 2nd assistants, logger/digitisers, subtitlers and Sound editor or designers. The 3 tier rate system allows for variation in rates according to past experience.
